1) Start with what you have
Don’t go into debt to start your business. Start small and with what you have.
2) Do it yourself
You may think you need to partner with someone to start a business. If you can go it alone, do it. It will save you a lot of time.
3) Figure it out
When you get stuck with something. Stick with it. Figure it out. Don’t throw away everything because you get stumped in one area.
4) Develop What You’ve Got
Many folks try to go off in other business areas. If you are a restaurant guy, develop things that work in that area. Trying to start a software development business may just eat up a lot of your time.
5) It’s all timing and opportunity
Many people think you have to have an MBA to start a business. In Tokyo, a friend of mine from New Zealand runs a business of multi-millions. The guy hasn’t even graduated from High School.
Starting a business is not easy, you will work longer hours, there are many sacrifices, and there is always a chance you may not make it.
If you work in a great company, help develop that team there and play on the power of the team. There is a lot to be said about teamwork.
