IP Phones in Japan

Are you looking for a telephone system in Tokyo or somewhere outside of the sprawling metropolis?  AINEO Networks has been supplying PBX (Private Branch Exchange) equipment, consulting, and installations in Japan and around Asia since 1997.  We have more engineers with more experience than any other company.  But our biggest point is that we are BQF.

In Japan, there are many options to consider when looking for a PBX.  Of course, Yahoo Broadband, NTT Bflets (fiber optic services), and many other great internet services have brought the IP phone (internet protocol phone) to the minds of the consumer in Japan.  However, IP phones are just analog home-use phones connected to one of the above-mentioned ISP’s (Internet Service Providers) router.  International calls are routed over the ISP’s service to provide cheaper international calling based on the numbers that are used.

When an executive (most likely based in Tokyo) at an enterprise (corporation) in Japan hears from his management team about IP phones.  This “cheap” international calling is usually the image that these people have.

What are the benefits of IP telephones?  Simply put there are really just two in an enterprise.
1) MAC work (Moves, adds, and changes) in the office is easy.  You just disconnect the phone, move it to the new LAN jack, then reconnect it where you want to plug in.  For example, you can easily move your desk phone to a meeting room if you want to work there for the day.
2) Instead of running two cables to each desk, you can run one LAN cable to each desk and connect the user’s PC directly to the phone (some manufacturers don’t have two ports on the phone).

We realize this is a simplified version of IP telephony.  There are other features that we could talk about, however a lot of features are already on the digital telephone sets.  For example, “hot-desking” or hoteling is usually promoted as a IP phone feature but in actuality has been available via digital phones for years.  Of course, another benefit of IP phones is connecting your systems together to cut international phone costs.  This is really only meaningful to companies with offices in Japan and the US for example.  If there isn’t much phone traffic between the offices then it really is a mute point (if you use discounted internatioal direct dial).
