Corporate Health & Fitness- Being a Better Performer

At the end of fiscal periods, it is very common to hear about the health and the fitness of corporations. Of course this is almost exclusively focused on the balance sheets of various companies and organizations. The strength of AINEO is our great team. A team is made up of many members or as we refer to them as players. Every player is important. Good players draw other good players and that is where we glow.
Thanks to wonderful partners, AINEO is a very healthy and growing firm expanding in Japan and the Asian Pacific region. To keep a strong team, we all really need to think about our players. One of the things that we are doing is focusing on helping our players to be healthy and fit. We highly recommend that you do the same.
Below are some suggestions for what we are sharing with our team.
1) Eat right- Eat food that is naturally grown and close to its original state. Things that have been manufactured or changed in a factory somewhere will undoubtedly be harder for your body to process and digest.
2) Exercise- Doctors suggest that you do some type of cardiovascular exercise a minimum of 3 times a week. Each session (on the treadmill, cross-trainer, bike, in the pool or whatever) should be at least 20 minutes to get your pulse up. Please do start easy if are just beginning to exercise.
3) Sleep- Your body needs 7-8 hours of sleep. Body builders do a lot of sleeping so their bodies have time to recover and rebuild. You need to give your body time to recover as well.
4) Have a life- Don’t have work as the only social experience in your life. Find a fun and healthy church, join a gospel choir, pick a sport, start a band; do something that gives you a chance to interact with other people. Working more than 8-9 hours a day is fine, however your productivity level goes down and your chances of a mistake increase if you are working too much.
5) Be spiritual- What differentiates humans from animals? We are spirit beings! Don’t just take everything for granted, challenge the way you think. Listen and respect other people’s opinions and decide what you think the truth really is, based on fact. If you don’t know get about something; crack a book, get on the internet, ask someone who really does know.
Thanks for the great ‘insight’. I enjoyed the read.
You didn’t mention how one should deal with smoking and drinking? We know smoking is pretty nasty on our bodies.
There are mixed reviews on whether we should really touch alcohol or not. I think even the Bible says a little wine is good for you. What do you think?
Dear Michael,
You would probably want to put alcohol and cigarettes into point #1 above.
Hard liquor and so forth tend to get people into more trouble than they usually want. A bit of wine is supposedly healthy, but there again the “little” bit of wine and not going overboard is the hard part for most people. You’ve got to leave that to people I suppose. We all just have to remember that alcohol and tobacco are considered drugs by most governments.
If you are going to smoke, it is best not to let people know it. Who wants to talk to or buy something from a sales person who reeks of cigarettes on his clothes or breath.
Food for thought I suppose….
Would be interest to see what people know about alcohol. Thoughts?
Thanks for stopping by!
